About Lilian Agar

Originally from Mexico and now based in Salt Lake City, Lilian is a multi-media artist-activist, Social Work student, Undergraduate Research Fellow at the Gender Based Violence Consortium, Correctional Counselor, and one of the 2023 Artists in Residence at The Leonardo Museum.

With a previous degree in Digital Graphic Design, she has pushed her digital skills to explore social topics through her realistic artwork. Agar’s projects shine an empathetic light towards difficult social issues in hopes to provide positive, educational art experiences.

Her latest projects; New Perspective (2020), a tribute to domestic violence survivors in Los Angeles, and A Hug Away: a breathing temple of love (2022), explores the vital role that acceptance and respect has in young queer folx's life in the capital of the LDS religion, Utah. Original artworks from both projects are now part of the Salt Lake County Visual Art Collection, and are in display at the Salt Lake County Government Center.

In addition to this, Lilian’s artworks have been displayed at The Leonardo Museum, the Utah Valley University Museum of Art, the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art (UMOCA), the George S. & Dolores Doré Eccles Art Gallery, the Huntsman Mental Health Institute, and the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles.
